Adesanya dodging Vettori’s punches like Buhari, Nigerians reacts to UFC win
Fans of the reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya have flooded popular microblogging site, Twitter, with reactions after the Nigerians streaked his Italian contender Marvin Vettori.
Adesanya, as predicted by experts, defeated his opponent at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday morning by a unanimous decision (21-1), ensuring a perfect comeback after his first career defeat to Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title in his last UFC fight in March.
Although the Nigerian wished he had defeated the Italian contender via knockout on Sunday, his fans were pretty delighted with the manner he retained his title, making light work of Vettori.
With over 200,000 tweets under the topic ‘Izzy’ and ‘Israel’, Nigerians and The Style Bender’s fans across the world have taken over Twitter to celebrate the Nigerian’s victory.
A tweet identified as Landon (@ATLSportsTakes) said, “Izzy schooled Vettori’s ass as I expected. Can’t believe he talked all that l shit just to get schooled like that. Can’t believe Izzy didn’t finish him either, but a win is a win. Izzy is going to own the MW division for a long time man.
@IamOkon wrote: Israel Adesanya‘s movement is too lit. Fire Look how he casually avoided Vetorri‘s shot making him look like an amateur.
According to @ActMontana Adesanya won as it’s supposed to be. “And still the reigning #UFC263 Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya. Africa no fit carry last,” he added.
Another tweep with the username @Femisonic wrote: “Adesanya Izzy dodging punches like Buhari Avoiding Nigeria’s problem.”
@AktivIngredient said that “Israel Adesanya went all Kung Lao on Marvin Vettori. Styled all over that motherfu** over 5 rounds and totally turned the Italian dream into a Nigerian nightmare. Well fought Izzy. That was very good MMA.”
@Stopleeee added, “You can tell Izzy took that Jan loss like a champ and improved tremendously, Marvin couldn’t even get him down and even when he did Izzy popped right back up, there are only two names among middleweights I wanna hear, Adesanya and Whittaker, both leagues above others.”
“Izzy really learnt a lot from the Jan Blachowicz fight, his takedown defence was amazing, I almost thought he lost it when Vettori had him locked in,” added @guru_kalexis.
