Super Eagles suffer 2-0 defeat to Mali
Nigeria’s Super Eagles faced a disappointing 2-0 loss against Mali’s Les Aigles in their second international friendly match on Tuesday night in Marrakech, Morocco.
Led by legendary Finidi George, the Nigerian squad struggled throughout the game, conceding goals in both halves to the tactically astute Malian team.
Goals from youngsters El Bilal Touré and Kamory Doumbia secured a memorable victory for Mali, denying Finidi George his desired second win as interim coach of the Eagles.
After securing a 2-1 victory against Ghana last Friday at the same venue, Nigeria’s Eagles aimed to continue their winning streak under Finidi George’s leadership.
In an attempt to strengthen the team, the interim coach made four changes to the starting lineup, with Moses Simon, Kenneth Omeruo, Jamilu Collins, and Raphael Onyedika replacing Cyriel Dessers, Benjamin Tanimu, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Frank Onyeka.
The defeat comes as a setback for Finidi George, who was hoping for another strong performance to bolster his chances of securing the permanent head coach position.
