Brentford has announced the loan signing of Nigerian U-20 defender Benjamin Fredrick from Simoiben FC Kaduna until the end of the 2023/24 season, subject to international clearance.

The Premier League club also has an option to make the signing permanent. The youngster played for Nigeria in the U-20 World Cup earlier this summer, reaching the quarter-final stages before losing 1-0 to South Korea.

He has been a regular for the Flying Eagles, playing 11 times at U20 level and making his debut at just 17. Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said that Benjamin is a “real prospect” and a “very tenacious player” who likes to defend on the front foot.
