COVID-19 scare: Buhari to exit self-isolation Wednesday
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) will on Wednesday quit his five-day self-isolation as mandated by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The development comes after the country’s number one citizen returned last Friday after an 18-day trip to the United Kingdom where he attended an Education Summit and subsequently went for his medical check-up.
Buhari was directed to self-isolate as a precautionary measure required of all international travellers arriving in Nigeria in case they had been exposed to COVID-19.
While still in isolation, the president has continued to attend to official documents including the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) on Monday.
Recall that the presidency confirmed on Monday that Buhari is taking measures to protect himself while attending to such official documents.
The presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, revealed that all documents brought to his attention are sanitised before they reach him.
He said: “The President is truly isolating as required following international travel.
“During this period, which ends on Wednesday, he will be attending to urgent and critical documents.
“It is important to note that all documents coming to Mr President are screened and sanitized with specialised equipment before and after they reach him.
“The PIB bill just signed passed through the same process.”
