A video featuring renowned movie director Kunle Afolayan and his daughter Eyiyemi Afolayan dancing at the premiere of the movie “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians.

The premiere, held at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, on February 25, 2024, drew attention not just for the star-studded guest list but also for the dance routine that Kunle Afolayan shared with his daughter. The event is set to launch on Netflix on March 1 in over 190 countries globally.

At the star-studded premiere, notable personalities such as Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Femi Adebayo, Monalisa Chinda, Jaiye Kuti, Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan, and Gabriel Afolayan graced the occasion.

However, it was the dance between Kunle Afolayan and his daughter Eyiyemi that stirred conversations.

In the video, Kunle Afolayan and Eyiyemi were seen dancing closely, with the movie director’s hands around his daughter’s waist. The dance routine extended to swaying from side to side, creating a father-daughter moment.

On the contrary, critics expressed discomfort, labeling the dance as inappropriate.
