Leeds United ended Tottenham Hotspur’s winning streak with a 1-0 victory at Elland Road on Saturday, November 7, 2026, courtesy of a late goal from substitute Noah Okafor.
The Swiss international scored in the 79th minute, just 97 seconds after coming off the bench, to hand Daniel Farke’s side their first Premier League victory in six matches.
According to Reuters, the victory lifted Leeds above Tottenham into eighth place with 14 points, while Spurs remained on 12 points.
Leeds frustrate Tottenham in goalless first half
The hosts began the encounter brightly, creating opportunities as they attempted to return to winning ways following a difficult run of results.
Tottenham, meanwhile, entered the contest seeking their fourth consecutive Premier League victory.
Leeds appealed for an early penalty after the ball struck Tottenham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, but a VAR review determined that the contact was not a handball offence.
The match later witnessed a controversial incident when Leeds defender Jayden Bogle caught Tottenham forward Mathys Tel with a late challenge.
The incident prompted a lengthy VAR review for a possible red card, but Bogle escaped dismissal.
Tel initially attempted to continue playing before being replaced by Dominic Solanke in the 43rd minute.
Despite efforts from both sides, the first half ended goalless.
Okafor scores winner within two minutes
Leeds returned from the interval with greater attacking urgency and began creating clearer opportunities.
Ao Tanaka missed a promising chance, while Sean Longstaff forced Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky into an important save in the 76th minute.
Farke subsequently introduced Noah Okafor and Harry Wilson in the 77th minute, replacing Lukas Nmecha and Tanaka.
The substitutions produced an almost immediate result.
Following a throw-in, Wilson helped direct the ball towards Okafor, who fired a low shot from the edge of the penalty area into the net in the 79th minute.
The goal came just 97 seconds after the winger entered the pitch.
Tottenham attempted to respond during the closing stages, but Leeds maintained their defensive organisation.
Goalkeeper James Trafford produced a crucial save to deny Jan Paul van Hecke’s header in stoppage time, preserving the home side’s advantage.
Leeds end winless run, Tottenham suffer setback
The victory ended Leeds’ five-match winless run in the Premier League and provided a significant boost ahead of the November international break.
Farke’s tactical adjustments, particularly the introduction of Okafor and Wilson, proved decisive in securing the three points.
For Tottenham, the defeat ended their three-match winning streak and denied them an opportunity to climb further up the league standings.
The visitors were also left frustrated by the decision not to dismiss Bogle following his challenge on Tel.
Leeds will look to build on the result when they face Chelsea on November 21, while Tottenham will attempt to recover from the defeat after the international break.
