Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win re-election in 2027, insisting that popularity on social media does not guarantee electoral victory.

The actress maintained that Tinubu had introduced several beneficial policies, particularly in education and taxation, and deserved another term in office.

Badmus made the remarks during an interview captured in a video shared on X by social media commentator Somto Okonkwo, popularly known as @General_Somto.

The actress, who has consistently supported Tinubu, argued that critics often overlooked what she described as the administration’s achievements.

Tinubu will win again in 2027 — Badmus

Speaking about the President’s chances in the forthcoming election, Badmus expressed confidence in his ability to secure another victory.

“Definitely. Definitely. He can still do it,” she said.

The actress argued that opposition supporters should not mistake social media engagement for genuine electoral strength.

“See, I keep telling people, politics is not on social media. It’s at the grassroots level,” she stated.

She maintained that political parties needed to build relationships with voters in communities rather than relying solely on online campaigns.

“Being popular on social media does not mean you win an election,” she added.

Badmus insisted that grassroots mobilisation would play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.

Actress praises Tinubu’s student loan initiative

The Nollywood star identified the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as one of the administration’s most important achievements.

She explained that many Nigerians previously struggled to pursue higher education because their families could not afford tuition and related expenses.

“When I was in uni, I never had the opportunity of getting a student loan,” she said.

The actress praised the government’s interest-free loan scheme, describing it as an important intervention for students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

“It’s a big deal. I’ve never heard about it before,” she stated.

She also alleged that some beneficiaries concealed their student loan applications from their parents while continuing to request financial support.

However, she did not provide evidence establishing how widespread the alleged practice was.

Badmus further encouraged Nigerians to seek information about the administration’s policies through the Ask City Boy platform, which promotes information about Tinubu’s programmes.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund officially provides interest-free loans to eligible students, covering approved institutional charges and upkeep.

Badmus acknowledges economic hardship

Despite her support for the President, the actress acknowledged that Nigerians were experiencing financial difficulties.

She maintained that economic reforms could involve sacrifices before their intended benefits became apparent.

“It might not be so easy for some other people, likewise me myself, or any other person listening, but somehow we have to go through something for something to be good,” she said.

Badmus also praised the administration’s tax reforms, although she did not provide specific evidence of their impact during the interview.

She argued that leadership should be assessed based on an individual’s commitment to citizens rather than political party affiliation alone.

“We cannot continue to associate the greatness of the country to the party,” she said.

“We want somebody that has the love of the citizens at heart.”

The actress expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, maintaining that the country could overcome its difficulties.

“Nigeria is going to be great again by God’s grace,” she added.

Badmus has previously defended her support for Tinubu, stating during an October interview on comedian Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast that Nigerians should be free to support their preferred political candidates without harassment.

Her latest remarks come as political groups intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
