We have made history for appointing two blood brothers as Emirs- Ganduje

The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Wednesday said he has made history by appointing two blood brothers, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and Nasiru Ado Bayero as Emirs of Kano and Bichi respectively.

Ganduje made the remark while presenting appointment letters to the two newly appointed Emirs at the Coronation Hall, Kano State Government House.

“This is the first time in Nigeria or anywhere in Africa where two brothers are receiving appointment letters as first-class Emirs in the same state.

They have indeed inherited the good works of their father,  Alhaji Ado Bayero who served Emir for 53 years,” he said.

He expressed happiness with acceptability of the new emirs as there was no crisis after the dethronement of former Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

He charged the newly appointed Emirs to participate fully in the newly introduced policy on free and compulsory education so as to ensure its effective implementation and success for the development of the state.

The governor also called on the monarchs to support the state government in its efforts to integrate the Almajiris system of education with the western education as to support the state government to enforce the total ban on the street begging.

“We are determined to integrate the Quranic education with western education while street begging is banned.

So we want you to assist security agents to ensure that street begging by the Almajiris is stopped,” he said.

Ganduje, who spoke on the reasons behind the establishment of the four additional Emirates, said the state government created the Emirates to bring about the much needed infrastructure development in the affected areas.

In a remark, the new Emir of Kano,  Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, promised to be respectful, loyal and obedient as taught by their late father, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

“We trust in God’s judgement we believe everything has its destiny and time and today it has come to pass.

“I recall my late father instructed us to embrace patience, loyalty to constituted authorities  and be dependent on Allah for everything.

“He also told us to be just and fair to people so that God will be just and fair to us in the hereafter.

“On this historic day I will say these wishes of our late father have come to materialize” the new Emir of  Kano said.

He called on the Kano people to live peacefully with one another in order to achieve development in the state while thanking the people of Kano for their support and cooperation.

In his remarks,  the Emir of Bichi,  Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero urged the state government to create jobs opportunities for the teeming number of unemployed people in the state.
