Lukaku completes Chelsea medicals

Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku, is inching closer to a return to his former club, Chelsea, having completed his medical tests in Milan on Monday.

WuzupNigeria reported that the Premier League side reached a £97.5m agreement with the Serie A champions on Sunday to re-sign the Belgian striker who was previously with the club between 2011 and 2014.

Lukaku’s contract is reported to be around £200,000-a-week as the Belgian prepares to fly to travel to London later on Monday or on Tuesday to complete the deal.

Confirming the report, Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Monday that The Blues would announce Lukaku’s signing in the next few days.

“Romelu’s camp is now planning together with Chelsea for London flight this week. Deal to be announced in the next few days,” he tweeted.

The Belgian left Chelsea in 2014 to join Everton for just £28m scoring 53 goals in 110 appearances for the Toffees before joining Jose Mourinho at Manchester United for a whooping £75 million, plus £15 million in add-on, in 2017.

After netting 28 goals in 66 matches at Old Trafford, the Belgian left for a fee reported to be a club record €80 million, claiming that he was made a scapegoat alongside other players such as Paul Pogba and Alexis Sánchez, in addition to the club’s failure to protect him against rumours about his future.

Lukaku however redefined himself at Inter with Antonio Conte as they won the 2020–21 Serie A for the first time since the 2009–10 season.

He finished the season 2020–21 with 24 league goals, 11 assists, making him the highest scorer on the title-winning team and the second-highest scorer in the league, behind Ronaldo
