Sony unveils PlayStation 5 logo ahead of release this year

Published

Sony has unveiled the logo of its next PlayStation console at a massive tech show in Las Vegas, the United States.

The logo for the PlayStation 5, which will launch in time for Christmas this year, doesn’t add much to previous designs.

It’s essentially the same as the PlayStation 4 logo, but with a “5” in place of the “4”.

The logo was revealed among a host of other Sony announcements during a tech conference at the annual CES tech conference.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan promised that the PlayStation 5 will help shape the “future of gaming“.

Our promise to the 100 million strong PlayStation community is to offer the biggest and best in content, and to deliver unique experiences to gamers with unprecedented speed,” he said.

Fans were left a little disappointed following the press conference, which was rumoured to feature a big reveal about the PS5.

Instead, the company chose not to disclose a price or release date for the hotly-anticipated new console.

Gamers will be left guessing on those until later in the year – though Sony has confirmed the machine will launch in time for “Holiday 2020”.

Ryan ended the segment by teasing that

“there’s plenty to share about the PS5 in the months ahead.

“We look forward to sharing more details, including the content that will showcase the platform and the future of gaming.”
