Police neutralize gang members who killed cops, rescue kidnap victim

The Anambra State Police Command has announced the neutralization of two members of a gang responsible for the killing of two policemen on December 29, 2023.

The operation, which took place during a raid on the gang’s camp in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, resulted in the successful rescue of a 51-year-old victim and the recovery of a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle.

The State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, shared this information with reporters in Awka on Monday.

He detailed the successful raid, stating, “Our operatives conducted a targeted operation in Ogboji on Sunday, neutralizing two gang members involved in the killing of two policemen.”

During the operation, law enforcement also seized significant items from the criminals. Adeoye listed, “We recovered four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two pump action guns, and 16 live cartridges.”

He assured the public that the IEDs had been safely defused to eliminate any potential threat.

Adeoye emphasized the commitment of the police command to continue the manhunt for the assailants and any criminal elements in the state. He reassured residents and holidaymakers, urging them to carry on with their lawful activities without fear.
