Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has claimed that Nigerians want to ride the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to death.
The Minister said Nigerians were taking the liberty Buhari had willingly offered to attack and criticise his government for granted which former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan would not have accepted.
Ngige made the comments on a Channels Television programme on Monday evening.
He said: “There must be a limit to politicking. If a government has done well, if a president has done well, give him accolades there. Areas he has not done well, point them out and discuss.”
Ngige however accused the media and Nigerians on social media of false accusations that Buhari disobeys the rule of law, noting that Buhari is more afraid to do so than himself(Ngige).
“This president (Buhari) is a democrat and is so afraid of a breach of the constitution or any law. I am even stronger than him in terms of that.”
”Such insinuations come from people in the media and in the social media world. Even President Obasanjo, can he give you people this latitude? He will not. I know him. Even ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will not allow such.
“They will not grant you people that. So, this president (Buhari) is a willing horse and you people (Nigerians) want to ride him to death,” Ngige asserted.
