Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 following his appointment as Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
Olujuwon made his position known during a visit to the organisation’s national headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
He was received by the Movement’s National Coordinator, who subsequently conducted him around the facility to provide an overview of its organisational framework, activities and operational structure.
Describing his appointment as a privilege, the younger Obasanjo praised the Movement for its grassroots engagement, community-based interventions and efforts to communicate government policies and programmes to Nigerians. He said he had monitored its activities over time and was encouraged by its approach to political mobilisation and public engagement.
He expressed his readiness to contribute his experience and resources towards advancing the organisation’s mission, particularly its campaign to secure another term for President Tinubu in 2027.
According to him, the President’s administration has made a promising start, stressing the importance of collective support, especially from younger Nigerians, in sustaining the reform agenda and ensuring continuity in governance.
He identified improvements in salary payments, infrastructure delivery and investment opportunities among the areas where the country had recorded progress, arguing that such developments should be consolidated rather than abandoned.
Olujuwon further expressed the belief that sustained public backing would provide the administration with the opportunity to strengthen its existing achievements and introduce additional policies capable of improving the lives of Nigerians.
He also revealed that his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dates back to 2014. Clarifying his family’s political orientation, he explained that individual members were free to maintain different political positions and pursue their interests without hostility or personal disagreements.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Comr. Sunday Adekanbi, formally welcomed Olujuwon into the organisation, describing him as a politically experienced individual whose leadership exposure and understanding of governance would be valuable to the Movement.
Adekanbi expressed confidence that the new appointee’s political background and knowledge of grassroots mobilisation would enhance the organisation’s capacity to expand its presence and activities nationwide.
He said the Movement was delighted by Olujuwon’s decision to identify with its vision, adding that his involvement demonstrated a willingness to participate in efforts aimed at advancing Nigeria’s development.
The National Coordinator noted that the organisation looked forward to benefiting from his wealth of experience, particularly in strengthening its mobilisation strategies and promoting its political objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
