Nigeria ranks 97th in 2021 global passport ranking
The Nigerian passport has been ranked on number 97 in the 2021 global passport ranking on the latest Henley passport Index.
According to Henley, the ranking which is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world’s largest and most accurate database of travel information.
The latest ranking covers for the first quarter of 2021 and countries are ranked according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa(visa-free).
Holders of the Nigerian passports can access at least 46 countries of the world according to the latest Henley passport index.
Japan ranks first fir the third year in a row and its passport holders can enter 191 foreign countries without prior visa approval.
Singapore passport, which allows its holders to enter 190 countries visa-free is second while Germany which allows its holders enter 189 country stay third, at par with South Korea.
The United States’ passport has dropped to number seven in the rankings—from the top spot seven years ago. Its passport holders can access 185 countries visa-free.
