The defendant, who resides at Karu Site, Abuja, is standing trial on a count charge of theft, an offense he, however, denied committing.

The Prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, one Sadiq Umar of the same address with the defendant, reported the matter at Karu police station on Dec. 13, 2020.

Adeyanju said that the complainant had alleged that on the same date, he woke up from sleep in his apartment at Karu Site, Abuja to discover that the defendant had dishonestly stolen his phone, including that of his girlfriend.
He said that the offense contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Anas Isa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 9, for hearing
