The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, has said detectives arrested one Peter Moses for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl in Ado Ekiti on June 2.

The CP said the victim cried out to her mother that the suspect removed her pants and had sexual intercourse with her.

Amba added,

“The mother of the victim reported the incident at the Ologede Divisional Headquarters, Ado Ekiti, and the suspect was immediately arrested.

“Medical examination showed that the suspect actually committed the act. Upon interrogation, Peter Moses confessed to have had carnal knowledge of the girl.”

The CP also said medical reports showed that there was penetration in the case of a 17-year-old sachet water hawker, who was gang-raped by four boys at the Oja Oba Market in Ado Ekiti on June 2.

He said two of the suspects, Dada Olamiposi and Sodie Oladejo, had made confessional statements on their involvement in the crime to the police.

Amba stated,

“The two suspects and two others at large conspired and raped a girl of 17, while she was hawking sachet water at the Oja-Oba New Shopping Complex, Ado-Ekiti. She was accosted by the four suspects, who took her to the last floor of the uncompleted complex, overpowered her and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

“As soon as investigations are concluded in the matters, all the arrested suspects will be charged.

“I want to advise all the good people of Ekiti State to be security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident or happening observed in their locality to the nearest police station.”
