Why Pastor Jimmy Olukoya needs to leave the pulpit — OAP Morayo’s husband

Femi Afolabi-Brown, husband of media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has questioned Pastor Jimmy Odukoya’s suitability to continue leading The Fountain of Life Church after his recent remarriage, arguing that the cleric should consider stepping down as senior pastor.

Brown made the remarks during a discussion on his wife’s programme, where he challenged Odukoya’s marital decision and appearance, insisting that people in spiritual leadership should be mindful of the standards they represent to their congregations.

He argued that while Odukoya was free to remarry, the decision raised questions about the biblical expectations of church leaders and whether he should remain in the pulpit.

Brown also criticised the pastor’s physical appearance, listing his tattoos, nose ring, earrings and muscular physique as features he considered inconsistent with the image expected of a spiritual leader.

Describing the pastor’s appearance as an expression of what he called “the flesh”, Brown said, “You see, tattoo, body hug, nose ring, earrings for men, biceps, triceps, everything I have mentioned, they are in the same WhatsApp group. And it is a WhatsApp group called The Flesh. This is all about the flesh.”

He also questioned the attention Odukoya appeared to give to his physique, asking, “Why is Jimmy Odukoya trying to look very hot? I’m telling you, he has worked heavily.”

Brown further suggested that Odukoya’s position as the leader of a prominent church made the issue more significant, pointing to the influence and resources associated with the office.

“Now imagine his position, senior pastor. And you know under that type of church, money is flowing,” he said.

His comments came amid public discussions surrounding Odukoya’s remarriage, which has attracted both congratulations and criticism since the pastor introduced his new wife, Mo Jasyme, to members of his congregation on November 1, 2026.

Odukoya, who is the senior pastor and chairman of the board of trustees of The Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, assumed the position after the death of his father and the church’s founder, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, in August 2023.

The church officially installed him and his sister, Pastor Toluwani Odukoya, as its senior pastors in September 2023.

Before his recent marriage, Jimmy was married to Oluwakemi Sade Banjoko in London in March 2013. The former couple have two children, and their marriage later ended in separation.

Introducing his new wife to the congregation, Odukoya said he had been navigating life alone since assuming leadership of the church before deciding to remarry. Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church subsequently prayed for and blessed the couple.
