A Nigerian man has opined that Nigeria is not worth dying for because his late father and 171 senior Army officers died in active service without any form of compensation from the federal government till date.

Narrating the sad incident in a tweet thread, @Virus_pluto said the government has been promising since 1992 and has never compensated any of the affected family members.

@Virus_pluto also revealed that his father and some army officers didn’t die from the crash but from suffocation because help didn’t get to them fast.

Nigeria isn’t worth dying for.

“My dad and 171 other senior army officers died in that Ejigbo 1992 military plane crash, as in they died in active service… What has Nigerian government done for the family? Promising and promising since 1992… I thank God for where I am today.

“Most of em that died are the breadwinners in their fam… Nigerian government keeps telling them to come back today, come back tomorrow since 1992.

“This is the crash site and the a Nigerian Air Force Lockheed C-130H Hercules and this is what it looks like if you care to see… All 3 engines failed, crashed like 4-5 minutes after take off…

“Immediately the aircraft took off from the airport, the engines started failing. A C-130 has four engines, two on each side. It can manage with three or in worse conditions, with two (one on each side) but on this very day, one of the engines packed up.

“The pilot attempted to make a return to base then a second one failed too and they decided to ditch the aircraft inside the Ejigbo Canal and even deployed the water landing but then 3rd engine also failed.

“The most annoying thing is the top military commanders were busy having a party at Ikeja Cantonese that day, even after they heard, they said there was no Helicopter..it was Aero Contractors, provided them with one and they still went there late.

“My dad and some didn’t die from the crash, they died from suffocation cos help didn’t get there fast, it took the useless Nigerian government about 16 hours later when the first corpse was eventually lifted from the site…16 hours.

“This plane crashed at Ejigbo here and it took them 16 hours to get to Ejigbo lol… Nigeria has six large Puma helicopters for search and rescue, not one was okay as they said.. we all know who did the runs but let’s shhhhhhh…”
