Yemi Alade drops 5th studio album, ‘Empress’
Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress and activist, Yemi Alade, has finally released her much-awaited album tagged, ‘Empress’.
The album embeds 15 classic and solid records with features from Vegedream, Dadju, Patoranking, Rudeboy, Mzansi Youth Choir and Estelle.
“Empress” album serves as the songstress 5th studio album after releasing “Woman of Steel” in 2019. The Album is released by Effyzzie Music Limited.
“If there is one thing that we have learnt this year, it’s the power of Love & inner strength. Love for God, self, service & for one another coupled with the strength to fight injustice and to carry on regardless of the circumstances.
“Love & inner strength kept the world moving through the dark clouds of 2020. With that in mind, I was blessed to create my fifth album titled “Empress“.
“Empress” album reseals Yemi Alade’s stake as the undisputed Afropop Queen, stamping her mark on the genre while growing her sound.
The project shows off a versatility only she can bring. She taps into dancehall with Patoranking on “Temptation”, delivers smooth R&B alongside Grammy-winning British singer Estelle on “Weekend” and sings gospel with the raved Mzansi Youth Choir on “Rain”.
Recorded majorly in Amsterdam, the set serves as Alade’s fifth LP following the acclaimed, “Woman of Steel“ which birthed the global classic “Shekere“ featuring multiple Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo.
The album houses power collaboration which French music superstars Dadju, Vegedream, and an infectious pop duet with Rudeboy.
