A non-governmental organization, Almuhibba Foundation, on Tuesday commenced the distribution of food items to no fewer than 5,000 less- privileged persons in Bauchi state to cushion their hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the items distributed were rice, macaroni, sugar, and food seasoning, among others.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director, Almuhibba Foundation, Mrs. Ladi Ibrahim, said the gesture would not only assist households in this time of need but also serve as a palliative in this Ramadan period.
According to her, the exercise is going on simultaneously across Bauchi, as well as Abuja.
“The distribution will be a continuous exercise and we are targeting 5,000 households across Bauchi state,” she said.
The Director explained that her organization had also donated 500 bags of grains to the Bauchi State Palliative Committee.
Also speaking at the occasion, Bauchi State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Mrs. Suzana Yavala, thanked the organization for the gesture, describing the timing of the assistance as apt.
