On Sunday, UNICEF Special representative and Afrobeat wonder man, Femi Kuti live streamed his performance at the Afrika Shrine Ikeja on Facebook for the first time. It was a special feat. Acknowledging what it meant to him, son of the late Afrobeat creator, Fela Anikulapo kuti posted a screengrab of the streaming on his official instagram page moments after the performance.
But the feat meant more to ace Nigerian movie producer Tunde Kelani.
Kelani who has made series of award winning movies including Thunderbolt (magun), Saworo Ide, Campus Queen and so on said Femi’s father, “Fela took the western technology, deconstructed and reconstructed it by infusing his cultural heritage to give the world AFROBEAT”. While his son the Prince of Africa music Femi Anikulapo Kuti placed the Shrine on the global arena by Live streaming on Facebook.
“We may not have contributed much to the technology but we can seize control of it and inject our blood into the pulsating heart,” Kelani said. See the post below
