Fire razes Sokoto market,motorcycles burnt
The central market in Sokoto on Monday was razed by fire with the motorcycle section affected.
According to The PUNCH, it was reported that the fire started this Monday morning but the cause has not been found but another source said that the fire started from a dumpsite close to the motorcycle section.
The chairman of the Motorcycle’s Marketers Association, Shehu Muhammed said that the number of motorcycles burnt can’t be accounted for at this moment.
The chairman said “We are unable to quantify the number of motorcycles burnt by the fire now because the fire is still raging.
“But many people lost their shops and motorcycles because they couldn’t come in as at the time the fire started around 6am.”
Shehu said the fire fighters have been working on putting out the fire and called on the government to come to the aid of persons that lost their properties to fire.
