The Kaduna State House of Assembly has taken a significant step by establishing a fact-finding committee to investigate the financial transactions, loans, and contract projects awarded during the tenure of former Governor Nasiru El-Rufai.

Governor Uba Sani, addressing a town hall meeting on Saturday, expressed concerns about the substantial debt inherited from the previous administration. He highlighted that the state had inherited a significant financial burden, including $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities.

“Despite the huge debt burden of 587 million dollars, 85 billion naira, and N115 billion in contractual liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development,” Sani had said.

In response to these concerns, the Kaduna State House of Assembly convened on Tuesday and established a fact-finding committee during plenary. This committee is tasked with investigating various aspects of the former governor’s administration, including financial dealings, loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015 to 2023.
