VIDEO: He owes no one an apology, Angelique Kidjo defends Burna Boy’s supposed ‘attitude’

Four-time Grammy-winner, Angelique Kidjo has reacted to claims that Afrobeat superstar, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy has an unruly attitude.

In a recent interview with Smooth FM in Lagos, the host had mentioned that the self-acclaimed African Giant has an unapologetic attitude with which critics attack him.

In response, the Beninese singer-songwriter praised Burna Boy for being good at his craft, adding that people need to cut him a slack.

Kidjo opined that Burna Boy might learn humility along the way but that doesn’t mean that Nigerians should expect an apology from him all the time.

“When you’re talented, yes, you have to have humility but that doesn’t mean you’re going to walk on yourself and apologize. For what? I’m good at what I do. You don’t like it? Sorry! If it was an African-American person having that attitude, nobody would say anything.

“That’s my boy mehn! Let him do his stuff. If you don’t like it, sorry for you… You leave my boy alone!” Angelique Kidjo stated, she said.
