A former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has expressed concerns over the alleged manner in which the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, died.
The PUNCH earlier reported that the notorious terror kingpin was critically wounded during a clash with rival, Islamic State-allied jihadists known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Wednesday.
A source further claimed that “Shekau shot himself in the chest and the bullet pierced his shoulder,” to avoid getting captured by ISWAP fighters.
Reacting to his rumoured death, Garba tweeted on Thursday that he wished Shekau died under a more brutal circumstance other than having the liberty to take his own life.|
Garba opined that he would have been a fulfilled man if Shekau had been stoned to death under the military’s supervision, adding that it would also have sent a strong signal to the likes of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo – a self-styled activist and Yoruba Nation agitator.
“My only concern with Shekau’s dead is on him having the liberty to chose how he died.”
In the tweet posted to his 45.5 thousand followers, Garba added that “He [Shekau] should have been stoned to death by villagers at Doron Baga Market square on live TV, under the supervision of the Nigerian Military for all to see.
“That’ll send a message to Kanu & Igboho.”
