Super Eagles icon Mutiu Adepoju faults Gernot Rohr’s sacking
Super Eagles icon, Mutiu Adepoju, has faulted the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation to sack, coach – Genort Rohr barely a month to the 2022 African Cup of Nations.
The German was sacked on Sunday and was replaced by former Eagles Captain, Augustine Eguavoen who will serve as the interim coach.
Reacting in Abuja on Monday, Adepoju admitted that the sack was long overdue but questioned the timing of the decision.
However, the former Real Madrid B player expressed confidence in his former teammate Eguavoen.
“This decision is something that has been expected. Fans are not satisfied with the results of the team despite the fact that we have good and young players.
“ I am not also sure if the timing is good, but we will see with the result of the AFCON,’’ he said.
“ Eguavoen is the Technical Director of the NFF, so, he is an insider and had been with the team long before now.
“ He has the experience and am sure he knows how to utilise the talents in the team for a great result,’’ Adepoju added.
