May Day: Edo LP guber candidate Akpata vows to prioritize welfare

The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Edo State, Barr Olumide Akpata, has commended the dedication and resilience of the state workers, promising to prioritize their welfare and advocate for their aspirations if elected.

In a statement he personally signed Akpata stated, “May 1st, known as Workers’ Day, holds a very special significance in numerous countries, including Nigeria, as a day to honour the dedication, hard work, strength, resilience, and immense contributions of the workforce propelling the nation’s economy forward. It also serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made and the battles fought to uphold the rights and dignity of workers across diverse sectors.”

Acknowledging the vital role of the workforce in the state’s economy and society, Akpata reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Nigerian workers and outlined his plans to create a conducive environment for them to thrive.

“I proudly stand in solidarity with the hardworking men and women who serve as the lifeblood of progress in Edo State and Nigeria and whose labour forms the bedrock upon which our society’s future is built. I reaffirm my steadfast commitment to standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerian workers – your challenges are my challenges, and your triumphs are my triumphs,” he emphasized.

Akpata pledged that under a Labour Party government in Edo, priority would be given to fostering an environment conducive to the flourishing of the state’s workforce. He vowed to amplify the voices of Edo workers, safeguard their welfare, and champion their aspirations for a brighter tomorrow.

“Happy Workers’ Day to all the dedicated and hardworking people of Edo and Nigeria. Together, we shall forge a path of progress and prosperity for all,” concluded the statement.
