Take responsibility, more COVID-19 cases may increase death rate, Presidency begs Nigerian youths
The Presidency has appealed to Nigerian youths to protect the elderly amongst them as cases of coronavirus increase daily in the country.
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC had on Saturday confirmed a total of cases 28,167 in Nigeria as death toll rises to 634.
Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad on Sunday warned that more infections and spread of Coronavirus by youths could lead to more death in the older generation.
He, therefore, advised Nigerian youths to take responsibility and slow down the spread of COVID-19 by following safely health guidelines by NCDC.
The Presidential aide on his Twitter page wrote:
“Do you know that more infections in the younger population can lead to more deaths in the older population who are more vulnerable?
“Take responsibility now, slow down the spread of COVID-19 by respecting all the NCDC protocols. Protect the older ones, this pandemic is very real.”
Recall that NCDC boss, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has mentioned that youths between the ages 20 and 40 were responsible for the spread.
He noted, however, that the majority of those bearing the brunt of the youth responsibilities are older people from 50 years and above.
