United States President Donald Trump has reacted positively to a suggestion that rapper Nicki Minaj could become the next White House press secretary, although he has not announced any plans to appoint her.
According to TMZ, Trump addressed the possibility during an interview with political commentator Benny Johnson on The Benny Show on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The discussion followed growing speculation surrounding the rapper’s relationship with the Trump administration and her recent participation in Republican political events.
Trump responds to Nicki Minaj appointment suggestion
During the interview, Johnson asked the President whether Minaj would become the next White House press secretary.
“That’s a good idea. I think I’ll have to think about that,” Trump responded.
The President repeated that he would consider the suggestion before joking that Johnson might also be suitable for the position.
However, Trump did not confirm that Minaj had been offered the role or that an official appointment process was underway.
White House official previously suggested rapper for role
The speculation began after White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video featuring Minaj aboard Air Force One.
In the recording, the rapper discussed Trump’s leadership and economic record.
Cheung subsequently suggested on social media that Minaj could serve as White House press secretary.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” he wrote.
The comment attracted attention from the rapper’s supporters and political observers.
Nicki Minaj strengthens ties with Trump
Minaj has become increasingly vocal about her support for the President.
She joined him at a Republican campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 25, where she publicly expressed her support for his administration.
The rapper also urged supporters to participate in the November 3 midterm elections.
Despite the speculation, there has been no official confirmation that Minaj is under formal consideration for the White House position.
