The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, from Layeri Village. He is from Oriire Local Government Area. This development highlights the case involving Oyo kidnapping suspects.
According to The PUNCH, police identified the suspects as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali. Both Oyo kidnapping suspects were assisting investigators with information about the kidnapping.
Preliminary findings showed that three armed men allegedly forced their way into Peter’s room before abducting him.
Oyo police intensify search for kidnap victim
Police said the attackers escaped through the National Reserve Forest after taking a motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone. Authorities continue pursuing other Oyo kidnapping suspects as part of the ongoing operation.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of September 24. It was later reported to authorities by a resident of the community.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said officers immediately began investigating after receiving the report.
“The arrest has consequently provided useful investigative leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident,” police said. With this, efforts to track remaining Oyo kidnapping suspects are being prioritised.
The command said it was working with other security agencies to rescue Peter. Furthermore, it aims to apprehend other suspects linked to the abduction.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the investigation.
