Nigerian celebrities join #ENDSARS campaign
Nigerian celebrities have also joined the trending hashtag calling on Police authorities to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) #ENDSARS campaign.
The hashtag is to protest alleged incidents of brutality, abuses, and harassment reported by men of the SARS operatives.
Falz, Simi, Olamide, Donjazzy have also lent their voices to fight against the ill-treatment by the SARS.
Falz in his tweet said that the entire Police team needs to improve their image as their conduct is against their message ‘police is your friend’.
He wrote, ” The entire police force needs some serious revamp. SARS are particularly notorious for brutal attacks on innocent youth. The police is not our friend.”
Simi, on the other hand, shared a personal experience with men of the police department.
She wrote, “People are not supposed to be afraid of the people that are supposed to be looking after us. A couple weeks ago, at almost midnight, my friends and I had a gun pointed at us for laughing. For laughing”
Don Jazzy advocated that the SARS team be fixed, else the operations of the men of the Anti-robbery squad be put to an end.
He wrote, “Over 100,000 tweets from concerned Nigerians. The people don’t feel protected. If we cannot FixSARS then endsars”
Olamide, popularly known as Badoo told the SARS team to protect the common man and not make life miserable for them simply because they possess the power of the gun.
He wrote, “EndSarsBrutality, plenty suffer man deface. Guide and protect the people not make life miserable for them due to the pressure that comes with your work or what you going through at home. A man with a gun should be mentally balanced and well oriented.”
