Police parade two fake inspectors, 17 other suspects in Delta
Two fake Assistant Inspectors of Police identified as Bankole Odusi and Samuel Idowu have been arrested for impersonating police officers and unlawful possession of firearms.
Parading the suspects along with 17 others for various crimes including kidnapping, murder/ritual, cultism, robbery among others on Wednesday at Police headquarters in Asaba, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, Mohammed Ali said that his primary assignment was to provide adequate security for the people of Delta State.
He said, “RRS operatives while on stop and search duty at head bridge Asaba, intercepted a Ford vehicle with two occupants one Samuel Idowu and one Bankole Odusi both wearing police uniform.
“Upon search, a toy Beretta pistol was recovered from them. On interrogation, they initially said they were police officers but later admitted to being spy police.
Mohammed said that the command is not relenting in its tireless efforts and fight against crime and criminality to sustain the force and ensure that criminally minded individuals will not see the state as a safe haven for them.
Confessing to the crime, the suspects said that they are spy officers attached to a bank in Lagos island.
“We work as spy officers in a bank in Lagos. Our boss sent us to deliver a vehicle in Imo State.
“It was on our way to Imo State, the police intercepted us at the bridgehead. Our crime is that we wear the police uniform.”
When asked how they get the uniforms, the suspects said that they got the uniform at Police central store.
