Twitter users share experiences as lady gets robbed by man she went on a date with
The streets may not be as safe as we think and this story just confirmed that.
A Nigerian lady has shared the agonising story of her friend who went out on a date with a man and how what was supposed to be a date turned to a robbery incident.
Tweeting via her handle @oritz_, the Twitter user said the man her friend went on a date with at a restaurant had asked to make a call with her phone.
While he was supposedly on the call and was walking around the restaurant as though he was talking to someone on phone, the man stepped out with the phone and never returned.
She tweeted:
“Guys, my friend was robbed this night and not by armed robbers or anything but by a guy she went on a date with.
“She met with the guy in a restaurant and everything and he was like his phone battery was low and he needed to make an important call.
“She gave him her phone to make the call, he kept going back and forth and that was how she didn’t see him again.
“I’m glad she’s safe. Please ladies let’s be careful out here o, these thieves are getting more creative.”
He didn’t just steal her phone, the lady was also made to clear the bill of all they both bought at the restaurant.
Some ladies have also camped in the comment section of the tweet to share similar experiences.

No be news…the exact thing happened to me 5 years back. I called my phone later he said ” I was lucky it was my phone he took,he would have carried me along” argh!. That’s my reason for always staying in my house I became introverted form that day to avoid such experience.

But it might not be the food…when it happened to me I didn’t eat nothing. I try not to eat on dates or i take something I can easily pay for when I’m caught up. So its might not be about d food. No be all of us dey chopchop

Oh goodness. I’ve experienced this and it’s one such heartbreaking experience, though I caught the thief later and he was forced to buy me a new phone, after he already sold mine. It is one of the worst episodes I encountered in my life?♀️

This same thing happened at Tanke ilorin. At a viewing center. The thief was so close to us we didn’t believe at first. Took the guys phone in the name of I wanna make a call.
I used my Android to track him for 4 days, caught him and handed him over to the authorities

Last week Sunday, in my ‘Local’. A guy was with two girls, eating and drinking, I saw him making a call, a few mins after the girls start fidgeting.
The guy ordered food and drinks, asked to use one of the girls’ phones to call a guy owing him and he walks out. Till today.— Tos¡nG (@Atosmania) 19 January 2020
