Justin Iwobi renews contract at Stoke City
Promising Nigerian teenage striker, Justin Iwobi has signed a new deal at Championship club Stoke City.
Iwobi and nine other youngsters have put pen to paper to become scholars at The Potters as the club recently announced their latest intake of academy scholars ahead of the 2021-2022 season start.
Apart from Iwobi, Max Asplin, Jack Griffiths, Tommy Simkin, Tom Curl, Matty Lusakueno, Logan Laird, Luke Wilson, Charlie Leybourn and Taylor McMahon have also started the first year of their scholarships at Stoke City.
Academy Director, Gareth Owen, heaped praises on Nigeria’s fast-rising star, he said, “Forward from Manchester. Joined as an U15 from Bury.
“A 6ft 4in striker who is athletic, aggressive, can hold the ball up, and can finish. Very good character in the dressing room.”
Last season, Iwobi picked up some valuable experience in the U18 Premier League by playing two matches, and also debuted in the prestigious FA Youth Cup as a schoolboy.
