Ireland star, Browne, tests positive for COVID-19 after playing against England
The Irish FA has confirmed that midfielder Alan Browne tested positive for coronavirus after playing full 90 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to England.
Although the FA said other staff and players result came back negative, more attention will be shifted to the opponents who came in contact with the 25-year-old during the game at Wembley on Thursday night.
The Irish FA tweeted: “The Football Association of Ireland can confirm Ireland midfielder Alan Browne has tested positive for Covid-19.
“There are no close contacts of the player and the rest of the staff & squad tested negative ahead of Sunday’s Uefa Nations League against Wales in Cardiff.”
It is understood that the Preston midfielder has since left the camp ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash with Wales.
According to SunSport, the FA are not worried about anyone catching the virus from Browne during the game and will go ahead with their international break plans.
West Brom forward Callum Robinson tested positive and was ruled out of the clash at Wembley.
