Gunmen invade Cross River police station, cart away with AK-47 rifle
Some unknown gunmen have stolen an AK-47 rifle during an attack on the Ekori Police Station in Yakurr LGA in Cross River State.
In a chat with our correspondents on Monday, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Command, Igiri Ewa, said they were awaiting information on the attack on Ekori Station.
It was gathered that the yet-to-be-identified gunmen carried out the attack on Saturday.
“Investigations are ongoing. We will issue a statement on the attack,” he said and declined to give further details.
Recall that at least four policemen were killed during an attack on two checkpoints in Calabar and Obubura in February 2021.
Rifles belonging to the policemen were carted away by the gunmen.
