A 34-year-old man, Mu’azzam Muhammad, is being prosecuted in the Kano State Sharia court in Kwana Hudu after allegedly assuming the role of a police inspector and defrauding unsuspecting job seekers.

Muhammad, who resides in the Gwangwazo area within the Kano Municipal Local Government Area, faces a dual accusation involving the impersonation of a police officer and a breach of trust.

According to Daily Trust, Muhammad allegedly deceived Maryam Muhammad, Halima Usman, and Zaharaddini Ado by assuring them of employment with the police force from their Abuja office.

He also collected the sum of N104,000 (one hundred and four thousand naira) from them. The victims believed him because Muhammad had claimed to be a police inspector.

When presented with the charges in court, Mu’azzam Muhammad pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

However, the presiding judge ordered the accused to be held in a correctional facility and scheduled the case for further proceedings on October 26.
