CM Punk has moved one step closer to another piece of WWE history after securing his place in the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Punk booked his spot on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown by overcoming Finn Balor and GUNTHER in a triple-threat qualifier.
The victory gives the former WWE Champion another chance to claim the Money in the Bank briefcase — and potentially make history in the process.
If Punk wins the ladder match, he would become the first wrestler to capture the Money in the Bank contract three times.
The 47-year-old has already won the prestigious briefcase twice. His first triumph came in 2008, when he went on to cash in against Edge later that year and capture the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk repeated the feat in 2009, winning the briefcase for a second consecutive year. He subsequently cashed in on Jeff Hardy to win the World Heavyweight Championship, with the title victory helping set the stage for their rivalry.
With two Money in the Bank victories already on his résumé, Punk is part of an exclusive group that also features Edge, The Miz and Seth Rollins.
Carmella is the only other wrestler to have won the women’s version of the Money in the Bank match twice.
Punk will enter the 2026 men’s ladder match alongside Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams and PENTA.
WWE is yet to determine the sixth and final participant, with the remaining qualifying opportunity scheduled to be decided next week.
A third Money in the Bank victory would give Punk an opportunity to establish a record that no wrestler has achieved before.
