Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has opined that the President, Major General, Muhammadu Buhari (retd) is in accord with crimes of terrorism if he fails to arrest and prosecute Mr. Garus Gogolo.

Fani-Kayode disclosed this on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday night after Gogolo – the coordinator of the Benue State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) “publicly admitted that he ordered that killings of many innocent people in Benue State.”

Recall that on Monday 1 January 2018, reports revealed that about 73 people were killed when Fulani herdsmen attacked some communities in Benue State which.

Gololo told BBC Pidgin the attack was in self-defence against thieves who allegedly came to steal 1000 cows from the herdsmen.

However, in a statement on Sunday, Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom called for the arrest and prosecution of Gololo after making fresh claims that the Fulanis are being attacked in the state.

Ortom in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said that “security reports however later proved that no Fulani cow was rustled before the 2018 attacks.

“In January 2018, shortly after armed herdsmen attacked communities in Guma and Logo Local Government Areas, LGAs, killing 73 people, Garus Gololo came out on behalf of the armed Fulani groups and accepted responsibility for the massacre alleging that the attacks were in retaliation for their cows which he claimed were rustled,” the statement partly said as the governor called on authorities to apprehend Gololo.

Speaking on Twitter, Fani-Kayode said that the president must order his arrest and prosecution for the killings of innocent and defenceless Benue people.

The tweet read, “If Gololo, the Fulani terrorist who admitted publicly that he ordered the killings of many innocent & defenceless people in Benue state is not arrested & prosecuted for terrorism & mass murder it means that Buhari is backing the terrorists & is complicit in these crimes. Period.”

Meanwhile, in separate tweets, the former aviation minister slammed Sheik Abubakar Gumi for likening the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB- a separatist organisation in the South-East) and the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC – a Yoruba nationalist organization in Nigeria) to Abubakar Shekau – leader of the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram or the Fulani herdsmen who have been accused of many killings and kidnappings.

Posting pictures of Gumi with the terrorists and some politicians (including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar), FFK said, “show me your friends & I will tell you who you are.”

He added, “This is the man who says IPOB & OPC members are like Boko Haram & he is regarded as a moderate in the North. God help us!”

Speaking further in a subsequent tweet, FFK said, “How can any right-thinking & sane person compare @MaziNnamdiKanu & those that want Biafra & those in the numerous self-determination groups in Yorubaland that want Oduduwa to Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram or the Fulani terrorists? Sheik Gumi messed up badly. I used to respect him.”
