Blow for Arsenal as Aubameyang, Lacazette to miss Brentford opener
Arsenal’s captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyand and Alexandre Lacazette are reportedly out of the Premier League opener against Brentford.
Metro UK reports that the duo joins a list of players who would be out of this evening’s clash with Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Reports revealed that the Gabonese star has missed the first team’s training in either of the last two days and The Athletic claim the 32-year-old is struggling with an illness.
Lacazette, on the other hand, would have led the line but he too will miss out and with Eddie Nketiah also injured, Arteta’s options are severely limited.
Folarin Balogun, who is yet to make his Premier League debut, could be thrust into the starting XI or Arteta could be forced to deploy a false nine with either Nicolas Pepe or Emile Smith Rowe filling in.
Arsenal are already without last season’s headline summer signing Thomas Partey who suffered an ankle injury against Chelsea a fortnight ago and Gabriel Magalhaes, who is not expected to be back in training until next month.
