American actress Rebecca Luker dies from ALS at 59

American actress, Rebecca Luker, a three-time Tony nominee and wife of actor Danny Burstein has lost her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

The enchanting Broadway actress and singer who received Tony nominations for her performances in revivals of Show Boat, The Music Man and Mary Poppins, died at 59, The Hollywood Reporter states.

Luker died on Wednesday in a Manhattan hospital after announcing in February that she had been diagnosed with ALS late last year. Her death was confirmed by her agent, Sarah Fargo.

Survivors include her second husband, Danny Burstein, who is also Broadway performer like his late wife.

The seven-time Tony nominee, Burstein, wrote two columns about his recovery from COVID-19 and how Luker helped him get past the virus.
