The one billion-view mark was reached on October 28, according to Social Blade’s historical channel statistics.

By November 1, the channel had accumulated more than 1.014 billion views across its videos and livestreams.

The achievement places Bassey among African music acts whose official YouTube channels have crossed the landmark figure.

Hallelujah Challenge attracts millions of viewers

The milestone coincides with the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, the online worship and prayer programme Bassey founded in June 2017.

The initiative began as a midnight worship session on Instagram Live before expanding into an international Christian gathering.

Participants from different countries now join the programme through YouTube and other social media platforms.

The opening session of the October edition attracted more than four million views, while the grand finale, known as the Hallelujah Festival, recorded over 4.3 million views.

The programme’s popularity has contributed significantly to the growth of Bassey’s online audience.

Nathaniel Bassey’s gospel music gains global recognition

Beyond the Hallelujah Challenge, Bassey is known for popular worship songs including Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God.

The singer, who is also a trumpeter, has built a large following through his music ministry and regular online worship activities.

Despite the commercial opportunities associated with his growing audience, Bassey has previously maintained that the Hallelujah Challenge is primarily focused on worship and spiritual devotion rather than revenue generation.

The one billion-view milestone highlights the expanding global audience for Nigerian gospel music and the growing influence of digital platforms in connecting African worship leaders with listeners worldwide.
