Rapper BlaqBonez and street-pop star Seyi Vibez sparked a lively exchange on X over the weekend after BlaqBonez complained about being mistaken for his colleague by Lagos street urchins, known locally as agberos.
The banter began on Sunday evening when BlaqBonez, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, posted: “lagos agbero people please i am not seyi vibez dammit” . The joke referenced the long-running observation that the two artists bear a striking resemblance, a topic fans have teased them about for years.
Seyi Vibez, born Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, did not take the mention lightly . Within minutes, he fired back with a series of posts, accusing BlaqBonez of seeking attention through his name.
“I be won curse you b4 Blaqbones, but I no go give you free promo,” he wrote, adding the nickname “Aladanu”.
The street-pop singer then dragged fellow rapper Odumodublvck into the fray, referencing the well-documented feud between Odumodublvck and BlaqBonez. “Blaqbones, your daddy na still Odumodu, if you like go up and down,” Seyi Vibez wrote.
He also dismissed BlaqBonez’s music, declaring “Rap is dead already jare” and telling him to take his “rubbish clout” elsewhere . Seyi Vibez further warned that a physical confrontation could follow if the rapper tried to align himself with him: “The fool won dey align himself with me. Na beating you go meet there aboy”.
BlaqBonez, seemingly bemused by the intensity of the response, quoted one of the posts and wrote: “se this guy dey whine ni?” — Pidgin for “is this guy joking? .
Seyi Vibez later softened his tone for his fans, writing: “Make una no vex say i talk anyhow my fans. No be every time person go Dey mumu / Lagos na place wey good people Dey not agbero” . He closed with a final jab: “GOD no go allow me resemble you” .
The mix-up stems from a 2023 encounter when BlaqBonez and Seyi Vibez ran into each other in a hotel lobby. A video of the moment showed the two musicians laughing over the belief that they look alike . BlaqBonez later quote-tweeted the clip, joking: “The 2 most handsome men in Nigeria” .
