Nigerian skit maker and content creator Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhowho Joseph Efe, has been permanently banned from TikTok after repeatedly violating the platform’s community guidelines .
The ban, confirmed by the platform on Wednesday, effectively shuts down his main short-form video hub, where he had built an audience of over 5.6 million followers and more than 158 million likes through comedy skits, music promotions, and live broadcasts .
Confirming the development, TikTok stated, “your account was permanently banned because of multiple policy violations” .
This is not the first time the creator has faced such action. In June 2025, TikTok removed another account belonging to him, which had about 3.5 million followers at the time, following a livestream in which he made comments about Afrobeats star Wizkid. He later apologised and rebuilt his following .
Carter Efe is not the only Nigerian creator to have faced a permanent ban on the platform. In September 2025, digital creator Ushie Delight Agbo, popularly known as Energy Goddess or Queenlight, had her account removed after amassing over 2.2 million followers and 62 million likes through dance, fashion, and lifestyle content .
Her ban also sparked debate about transparency in TikTok’s moderation system, with fans questioning why an account that had built such a significant following could be removed without a clear public explanation .
The incidents highlight the growing vulnerabilities content creators face regarding platform dependency, copyright enforcement, and community guideline strictures on international social media applications.
Despite the setback, Carter Efe continues to engage his audience through alternative platforms, including Twitch, where he has established a prominent presence as a live streamer .
