Norway stun Côte d’Ivoire, set up Brazil showdown

Norway booked a historic place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Côte d’Ivoire, setting up a knockout clash against Brazil.

According to an Instagram post by Questimes Official, the victory marks Norway’s first-ever qualification for the World Cup knockout stage, ending Côte d’Ivoire’s impressive run after the African side reached the last 32 for the first time in its history.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland proved decisive once again, scoring in the closing stages to seal the victory and register his fifth goal of the tournament.

The result sends Norway into a mouthwatering Round of 16 encounter against five-time world champions Brazil, while Côte d’Ivoire bow out after a memorable campaign despite their historic breakthrough at the tournament.

Norway will now look to continue their fairytale run when they face Brazil for a place in the quarter-finals.
