Viral internet duo, Happie Boys, have reconciled with their former benefactor, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere of Omega Power Ministries, after more than a year of public disputes.
The reunion took place on Sunday, September 14, at the Port Harcourt headquarters of OPM, where the boys, identified as Matthew Precious Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, publicly sought forgiveness.
Their emotional appearance in the church surprised worshippers, many of whom witnessed Apostle Chibuzor pray for them, deliver them, and bless them with the words, “Go and prosper.”
During the service, the pair claimed they were misled by rivals of the clergyman who promised them opportunities abroad, including a trip to the United States. They admitted that this contributed to their falling out with Apostle Chibuzor.
The saga dates back to 2022 when the Happie Boys gained fame after a video of them dancing during their security job hours went viral. Their plight caught public attention, leading Apostle Chibuzor to sponsor their education in Turkey.
However, by 2023, the relationship collapsed. The boys accused the cleric of abandoning them in Cyprus after just six months of financial support. They posted videos cursing him, sparking a bitter public rift.
In response, Apostle Chibuzor cited Nigeria’s worsening economic crisis as the reason he could no longer fund their scholarship. He explained that he advised them to return home or transfer to Benin Republic to continue their studies, but they refused.
At the height of the dispute, the cleric had placed a curse on them, which he lifted during Sunday’s reconciliation service.
Reactions have since trailed the development on social media. One user, Saodami1, commented, “They apologized after it finished. I hope all he gave them was prayers and not silver or gold.”
Another user, osquare78, expressed doubts, writing, “I feel sorry for this pastor. These boys are complete fraud and looking for the next cash out from him. Sad he didn’t realise that.”
