Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has praised Moises Caicedo, calling him the best defensive midfielder in the world after his team’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.
Maresca spoke highly of Caicedo’s humility and dedication, saying the Ecuadorian’s attitude makes him stand out.
Chelsea took the lead in the 50th minute when Enzo Fernández scored from a Cole Palmer assist.
Minutes later, Caicedo thought he had doubled Chelsea’s lead, but his goal was ruled out by VAR.
Despite the disallowed goal, Chelsea’s win moved them back into fourth place in the Premier League table with 52 points, pushing Manchester City to fifth with 51 points.
Speaking after the match, Maresca did not hide his admiration for Caicedo.
“Moi Caicedo is so humble, so kind… so good. He’s one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielder in the world right now,” he said.
“The best thing about Moi is that every day he’s working very seriously. He’s an example.”
With Chelsea fighting for a top-four finish, Caicedo’s role in the team remains crucial as the season progresses.
