Isese: Tani Olohun apologizes to Muslim community
Isese activist Abdulazeez Adegbola, aka Tani Olohun, has apologized to the Muslim community for his alleged actions, which have landed him in jail. Adegbola’s former lawyer, Muftau Olobi, released a letter of apology on his behalf on October 9, 2023.
In the letter, Adegbola stated that he had repented and regretted his actions.
He also said that he was willing to take steps to show his sincerity, such as visiting mosques and talking to Muslim leaders.
Adegbola’s apology comes after he was charged with multiple offenses, including inciting public disturbance and burning a Quran. He has been in custody since August 19, 2023.
“Furthermore, in furtherance of genuine intention, sobriety, clear, sincere and unequivocal apology of our client, he has formally mandated and instructed us to, on his behalf, write this letter of further personal apologies.
“With humility, we are making our reliance for the basis of this letter on the provisions of the noble Holy Quran on forgiveness by commending you to the following provisions.
“Conclusively, we, on our part, join our client to tender an unreserved apology with the assurances that when our client regains his freedom, further steps will be taken by him to exhibit the fact that our client has not only genuinely repented but has been purged of his encumbrances and totally remorseful,” he said in his apology letter written earlier written by his former lawyer, Muftau Olobi.
In an interview with PUNCH Online, Adegbola said that he agreed to the apology letter because it was the only way his lawyer knew how to get him out of jail.
He also said that he believed the will of God would prevail and that he would be released soon.
“Yes, I am aware of the apology letter. He (my lawyer) was doing what he was paid to do.
“He came here with my mother, who was hysterical, and discussed the apology letter with me; this was the only way he knew how best to get me out of here. I did not want to aggravate the issue, so I agreed to the apology letter,” he said.
