Isese: Tani Olohun files fresh appeal for bail

Published

Controversial traditional religion devotee, Abdulazeez Adegbola, also known as Tani Olohun, who is standing trial for alleged defamation in Kwara State, has filed a fresh appeal for bail at the State High Court.

The bail application, which was filed on Friday by two lawyers, Dr Omotunde Adeola SAN and Ademola Bank, is to be heard by Justice FD Lawal on November 2, 2023.

A Kwara State Chief Magistrates’ Court presided over by Mohammed Ibrahim had on September 19 declined to grant Tani Olohun bail, arguing that he did not have a known address and that he was safe at the Federal Correctional Service facility in Ilorin.

In the appeal application, Adeola pleaded with the court to grant Tani Olohun bail, arguing that the offence for which he is standing trial is bailable and that the defendant would be physically present anytime the case arises.

However, Sanni Oseni, counsel for Ogo Ilorin, the complainant in the defamation case, said he had not been properly served with the application and pleaded with the court to give him time to study it and respond.

The presiding judge adjourned the case till November 2, 2023 for a hearing of the appeal.
