JUST IN: Obiji bags silver as Nigeria records sixth medal at Tokyo Paralympics
Team Nigeria has won its sixth medal at the Tokyo Paralymics thanks to Loveline Obiji’s silver-wining lift in the women’s +86kg powerlifting category.
Obiji came second in the final by lifting 147kg to wrap up Nigeria’s participation in the Powerlifting category.
China’s Deng Xuemei claimed gold medal with a lift of 153kg while Poland’s Marzena Zięba won the bronze.
Earlier, WuzupNigeria reported that Team Nigeria moved six places up from 27th to 21st on the medal table after winning a third gold medal in powerlifting.
Nigeria now has three gold, one silver and bronze medals so far at the ongoing games.
Folashade Oluwafemiayo, Bello Omolayo, on Sunday, joined Tijani Latifat who won Team Nigeria’s first gold on Thursday as the three gold medalists so far.
Lucy Ejike and Ibrahim Olaitan also won bronze medals in para-powerlifting on Saturday.
